About Strait Surf Co.

I've spent over a decade teaching surfing and ocean safety, from the California coast to the shores of Maine. As head surf instructor at Maine Surfers Union, I created Lady Slide, a weekly summer gathering where women could learn to surf in a fun, supportive, and empowering environment. When Maine Surfers Union closed its doors, I knew I wanted to keep that community alive while pursuing a longtime dream of my own: creating Strait Surf Co.

Over the years, I've taught hundreds of people to surf, and one thing never gets old: the pure, unfiltered stoke of catching your first wave. The smiles, the laughter, the feeling of being completely present in a single moment. Something shifts — time stands still, and a connection with the ocean begins. Witnessing that joy is one of the greatest privileges of teaching, and it's what continues to call me back to the water.

Beyond surfing, I'm a high school science teacher at Baxter Academy for Technology and Science, with a master's degree in Zoology and a deep-rooted passion for the natural world — a passion that only deepens every time I paddle out. My work as both an educator and surfer has shaped my belief that our connection to the ocean is something worth nurturing, protecting, and sharing. As surfers, we use the ocean as our playground, and that comes with a responsibility to care for her and keep her healthy.

At the heart of Strait Surf Co. is a simple belief: the ocean is for everyone. I hope to share the joy, freedom, and connection that surfing has brought to my own life, creating an inclusive space where people feel supported, empowered, and inspired to find their own place in the water. Because sometimes, all it takes is one wave to change the way you feel about yourself — and the ocean.
